The ability to drill in deeper waters is an ever-increasing advantage in today’s market. One of the most important variables to determining drilling depth capabilities is the amount of usable fluid subsea for activating controls from surface. The Cameron subsea pressure intensifier (SPI) enables increasing the useable control fluid stored in subsea mounted accumulators by boosting the working pressure from a conventional 5,000 psi [34.5-MPa] up to the full rated pressure of 7,500 psi [51.7 MPa]. Available for new-build rigs or as a retrofittable option, the SPI is a space-saving, economical solution that enables you to •improve shearing capability •extend your operating work area into greater water depths •use nitrogen gas instead of costly helium gas (stack dependent) •minimize the weight increase on existing BOP stacks •increase your capacity to comply with Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Well Control Rule and American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification 16D.

The MTU Series 8000 was awarded Naval Vessel Rules (NVR) certification by ABS. The new certification, a requirement for the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV) programs, was awarded to Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH after 1,500 hours of testing of the 20V 8000 that included run times at 110% of the engine’s rated power in a variety of extreme environmental conditions. Additional validation testing was also completed in a commercial marine application, further demonstrating the versatility of the Series 8000, which joins the 8V 396 in the MTU portfolio of engines with ABS NVR certification.

Developed through the Subsea Services Alliance with Helix Energy Solutions, the riserless open-water abandonment module (ROAM) is an environmentally friendly tubing removal in open water solution. When run as a complement to the intervention riser system (IRS) or subsea intervention lubricator (SIL), ROAM enable the ability to capture contaminants or gas within the system and circulate them back to the safe handling systems on board the vessel. The 18 3/4-in fullbore ID enables pulling tubing hangers through the ROAM to the surface. ROAM has two barriers capable of shearing and sealing landing strings and production tubing that will pass through the system during recovery. ROAM also provides an additional barrier on the well when running current technology into the well to perforate and inject or circulate cement.
